What is the Black Hills Jigsaw Puzzle?
This is a 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzle built from an original hand-illustrated map of the Black Hills region. Xplorer Maps draws each of their maps by hand, then licenses the art onto puzzles, prints, and gifts. The Black Hills edition covers the region across western South Dakota into eastern Wyoming, with landmarks, wildlife, and plants laid out the way an old illustrated travel map would show them.
Finished, it is 19.8 in by 26.4 in. That is big enough to work on over a weekend and large enough to frame afterward. The box includes a 20 in by 15 in reference poster so you can check your progress without losing the lid.

What’s on the map
The illustration covers the Black Hills National Forest from South Dakota into Wyoming. Expect to find:
- Black Hills National Forest terrain, Spearfish Canyon, and the high-country peaks around Black Elk Peak
- Jewel Cave National Monument, Wind Cave National Park, and other regional landmarks rendered in Xplorer’s hand-drawn style

The art also depicts nearby landmarks outside the National Forest boundary (Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, Devils Tower) so the full regional context reads correctly. BHPFA is not the cooperating partner for those sites, but the map would be incomplete without them.
