Why join?
Membership is the simplest way to stand with the parks and forests you love, and it is a genuinely good deal.
BHPFA is the nonprofit that runs the park stores and funds education at seven public lands. The main reason to join is to give steady support so our partners know the education money will be there. The 15% store discount is our thank-you, and for a lot of members it covers the dues and then some. Buy a couple of field guides and a Passport book and you are already ahead.

Your dues in the field
What membership funds
Dues are unrestricted, so we put them where they do the most good. A sample of the work members make possible:
- Youth programsAdventures in Nature, Wind Cave National Park’s winter youth program.
- Conservation internsFunding student conservation interns at our public land partners.
- Cultural programsHonorariums for Lakota speakers and tribal consultation for exhibits at Wind Cave National Park.

Is my membership tax-deductible?
Black Hills Parks and Forests Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, EIN 46-6017180. Membership dues support public lands. Keep your emailed receipt, and check with your tax advisor about the portion above the value of your member benefits.
How does the 15% discount work?
Show your membership at any BHPFA park or forest store, or sign in to the online shop, and 15% comes off almost everything, all year. It also unlocks reciprocal discounts at cooperative association stores across the country through the Public Lands Alliance.
Monthly or annual, which should I pick?
Annual at $30 is the simplest way in. Monthly Grass Roots giving, from $5, spreads your support across the year and comes with a limited-edition bag. Both include the full member benefits, so pick whatever fits your budget.
Where does my money go?
Dues fund field trips, Junior Ranger programs, conservation interns, cultural programming, and trail work across the seven partner sites. The benefits are our thank-you; the support is the point.
