What is the Scotts Bluff Eagle Rock Patch?
This 3-inch die-cut embroidered patch is the official Scotts Bluff National Monument patch in the Eagle Rock series, made by L.W. Bristol Classics, a manufacturer in Bristol, Tennessee that has produced custom souvenirs for parks and trails for decades. Eagle Rock is one of the five named formations of the bluff (Dome Rock, Crown Rock, Sentinel Rock, Eagle Rock, and Saddle Rock), and from the east side of Mitchell Pass it sits to the left as you look up at the cliff face.
The patch is sold at the Scotts Bluff visitor center store and through BHPFA’s online shop. Every purchase goes back into education, conservation, and visitor services at Scotts Bluff and the rest of BHPFA’s partner sites.
About Scotts Bluff National Monument
Scotts Bluff National Monument sits in the western Nebraska panhandle near Gering, along the North Platte River. The bluff rises 800 feet above the surrounding plains and was a major landmark on the Oregon Trail, the California Trail, and the Mormon Trail. Pioneers heading west used the bluff as a navigation point, and after 1851 most wagon traffic moved through Mitchell Pass, the natural gap between Scotts Bluff and South Bluff. The monument was established in 1919.
The five named rock outcroppings (Dome Rock, Crown Rock, Sentinel Rock, Eagle Rock, and Saddle Rock) make up the bluff complex visible from the visitor center and the Summit Road. Eagle Rock is one of the formations most often photographed from the east approach.

How to attach the patch
The patch has an iron-on adhesive backing. Place it face-up on the fabric, cover with a thin pressing cloth, and press with a hot iron (no steam) for 20 to 30 seconds. For anything that sees regular washing or outdoor use, a few hand stitches around the edge will hold it permanently. Avoid hot-cycle machine washing and do not bleach.

Does the patch stay on after washing?
Iron-on adhesive holds well on woven fabrics but can lift at the edges after repeated machine washing. For long-term durability, sew around the perimeter after ironing. Machine wash on a gentle cycle in cold water and air dry.
How big is this patch?
Roughly 3 inches by 2 7/8 inches (die-cut to the shape of the design). That’s about the size of a credit card. It fits on the front panel of a baseball cap, on a jacket sleeve, or on the main panel of a daypack.
