What is this hat?
A camper hat made for Black Hills Parks and Forests Association on a Good Land Supply Co blank. The front is two panels, tan on top and dark brown below, and the bill is flat and green. Caramel mesh runs from just behind the front panels around both sides and the back, so it breathes on a warm day. A dark brown button sits at the crown, and it closes with a gold plastic snapback strap.
What is on it
Embroidered in cream thread on the brown front panel: JEWEL CAVE arcs across the top with NATIONAL MONUMENT curving underneath it, a bat with its wings spread sits in the center, EST. and 1908 split to either side of the bat, and SOUTH DAKOTA runs across the bottom. The bat is a nod to the bats that hibernate in the cave, and 1908 is the year Jewel Cave became a national monument.
