Description
What it is
This is the Jewel Cave National Monument design in the Black Hills and Nebraska Panhandle collectible token series. It is a small struck-metal token made for collecting and display, not for spending.
About the design
One face reads “Jewel Cave National Monument, Custer SD” around an illustration of the cave interior. The other face repeats the monument name with the founding date “Est. 1908,” the year Jewel Cave was set aside by presidential proclamation.
About the monument
Jewel Cave sits in the Black Hills near Custer, South Dakota. With more than 220 miles of mapped passage and the survey still growing, it ranks among the longest caves in the world, named for the calcite crystals that line its walls.
How the tokens work
Each token carries the park or forest name on one side and a related image on the other. Collectors keep them in a token album with slotted pages, the same way pressed-penny and challenge-coin collections are stored. Tokens and albums are sold separately so you can build the set one site at a time.
Who is this for
A low-cost trip reminder for first-time visitors and kids, and the Jewel Cave piece for collectors assembling the seven-token Black Hills and Nebraska set.
Frequently asked questions
Is this legal tender?
No. It is a souvenir collectible token, not currency.
Can I order a large quantity?
BHPFA reviews token orders before shipping and does not fill bulk orders intended for resale on other platforms. If you need several of one token for personal collections, note that in the checkout fields.
