Description
Smokey Bear collage tumbler, 16 oz double wall
A 16 oz travel tumbler produced by Impact Photographics under the USDA Forest Service Smokey Bear license. The artwork wraps all the way around the cup, arranged as a collage of classic and vintage Smokey poster art. Full color, edge to edge, no cropping.
The construction is a double wall setup. The outer wall is plastic, which is where the sublimated artwork lives. The inner cup is stainless steel, so your coffee or ice water touches metal, not printed plastic. A clear snap on lid with a sip opening keeps the whole thing reasonable for a car console or a backpack side pocket.
This is the same Smokey you grew up with. The campaign is on its 82nd year as of 2026, which makes it the longest running public service campaign in US history. It started in 1944, and the living black bear cub who later became the mascot was rescued from a 1950 wildfire in the Capitan Mountains of New Mexico. Smokey is still a federal trademark, administered by the USDA Forest Service.
Impact Photographics is a souvenir manufacturer based in Petaluma, California. They make a lot of the sublimated drinkware, stickers, and tins you see in national park stores across the country. The sublimation process bonds the artwork into the outer plastic wall, so it does not peel off like a printed decal would.

Who is this for?
Visitors to the Black Hills National Forest. Smokey is the mascot of the USDA Forest Service, and the BHNF is one of the oldest national forests in the country (established 1897). A Smokey tumbler that rides along in the cup holder is a small way to carry the trip home.
Firefighters, wildland crews, and USFS or NPS employees. There is a long tradition of gifting Smokey items among folks who work fire. If you know someone on a hotshot crew, a smokejumper team, or a ranger station, this is an easy one.
Anyone who remembers the campaign. If you grew up watching Smokey on TV in the 1970s, 80s, or 90s, this is that same bear, same hat, same line. It holds a 16 oz coffee shop large, with room for ice.
Frequently asked questions
Is this tumbler dishwasher safe?
No. Hand wash only. The sublimated artwork sits in the outer plastic wall, and dishwasher heat and detergent will fade or damage the print over time. Microwave use is also not recommended because of the stainless inner cup and the plastic outer wall. Hot coffee goes in fine, microwaving the whole thing does not.
How big is it?
16 oz capacity. About 6 3/4 inches tall, 3 inch rim diameter tapering to a 2 1/2 inch base. Empty weight is 7.7 oz. It fits a standard car cup holder.
What does the inside look like? Is the drink touching plastic?
The inner cup is stainless steel. The plastic is the outer wall, where the artwork lives. Your coffee, water, or iced drink is in contact with stainless steel, not the print.
Does it keep drinks hot or cold?
It is a double wall construction, so it will hold temperature longer than a single wall cup. It is not vacuum insulated the way a Yeti style tumbler is, so do not expect six hour ice. Think a couple of hours for hot coffee or iced tea, comfortable to hold either way.
Is this officially licensed Smokey Bear?
Yes. Smokey Bear is a USDA Forest Service trademark. This tumbler is produced under that licensing program by Impact Photographics. Unlicensed Smokey merchandise is common on general marketplace sites, so if that matters to you, it is worth checking. The UPC on this one (802285288568) corresponds to Impact Photographics, a licensed producer.
What does the artwork actually look like?
The design wraps all the way around the tumbler. It is a collage of classic and vintage Smokey Bear campaign artwork arranged edge to edge, full color. Smokey in his ranger hat is the consistent thread, with posters and graphics from across the campaign’s history around him.
How old is the Smokey Bear campaign?
82 years old as of 2026. It launched in 1944. The living cub who became the mascot was rescued from a 1950 fire in the Capitan Mountains and later lived at the National Zoo in Washington, DC. The campaign is the longest running public service campaign in US history.
