What it is

About the design
The cow and calf scene is a quieter take on the park’s bison than a single bull silhouette. The fine cross-hatching gives it the feel of a field-notebook drawing, and the script lettering keeps the whole thing soft and understated.
About the site
Wind Cave National Park keeps a free-roaming bison herd on its mixed-grass prairie, descended from a small group reintroduced in 1913. Calves, born a reddish-tan in spring, are a common sight in the grasslands above the cave. Below ground, the park protects about 161 miles of passage and most of the world’s known boxwork.
