What is the Wind Cave Fire Tower Bison Magnet?
This is a bison-shaped souvenir magnet made for Wind Cave National Park by Wild Tribute 4 the Parks. The design is black with four horizontal bands in orange, yellow, green, and red. Within those bands are the Rankin Ridge Fire Tower, pine trees, an arched bridge, and “Wind Cave National Park.”
The picture stays focused on the park above the cave. The bison shape connects it to the herd on the prairie, while the tower and bridge point to Wind Cave’s road and fire-management history.

The National Park Service says the Rankin Ridge tower was built in 1956 at an elevation of 5,013 feet, the highest point in Wind Cave National Park. It was staffed during regular fire seasons through 1998. The tower is now used only on occasion for fire or severe-weather monitoring and is closed to public climbing. Visitors can still reach the ridge on the one-mile Rankin Ridge Nature Trail.
