Description
What is the Collector’s Edition?
The Passport to Your National Parks Collector’s Edition is the larger, more durable version of the Classic Edition that most passport collectors eventually upgrade to. Published by Eastern National, it covers all 400+ National Park Service sites with the same color-coded regional layout, but in a bigger format with more pages, heavier paper, and a vinyl cover that holds up to years of road trips.
Where the Classic is designed to fit in a pocket, the Collector’s Edition is designed to last. The vinyl covers are weather and tear resistant. The pages are heavy stock. And there’s extra room in every region for additional cancellation stamps, so you’re not cramming stamps into margins after your fifth visit to the Southwest.

Who is this for?
Collectors who’ve outgrown the Classic. If you’re on your second or third Classic Edition and want something that won’t fall apart, this is the upgrade. The vinyl cover and heavy paper make a real difference after a few years of use.
Serious road trippers. If you’re planning a multi-park trip or working through a region systematically, the extra cancellation space means you won’t run out of room. The larger format also makes it easier to stamp neatly, which matters more than you’d think after a few hundred parks.
Gift buyers looking for the premium option. At $32.95 it’s a meaningful gift that lasts for years. Popular for retirements, milestone birthdays, and “we’re finally doing the national parks road trip” send-offs. Pairs well with the annual commemorative stamp set.
Collector’s Edition vs. Classic Edition
The most common question we get: which one should I buy?
- The Classic Edition ($14.95) is pocket-sized, lightweight (5.3 oz), and perfect for casual visitors or first-timers who want to start collecting without a big commitment.
- The Collector’s Edition ($32.95) is desk-sized, built to last, and has room to grow. If you already know you’re going to fill it up, start here.
Both editions use the same cancellation stamps at every park. Your stamps work in either book.
How the Passport cancellation stamp program works
New to passport stamping? Here’s how it works (we also have a full beginner’s guide):
- Get your Passport book from any national park visitor center, park store, or online.
- Visit a national park, any of the 400+ units in the National Park System.
- Find the cancellation stamp at the visitor center or park store. Usually near the front desk. Ask a ranger if you don’t see it.
- Stamp your Passport. The cancellation records the park name and date of your visit. Free, every time.
- Collect commemorative stamps. Eastern National releases a set each year featuring specific parks. These are separate adhesive stamps you purchase and add to your book.
- Fill it up and keep going. The Collector’s Edition has room for a lot of stamps, but when you need more, grab a Collector’s Expander Pack ($7.99).
Frequently asked questions
How is the Collector’s Edition different from the Classic?
Bigger (7.5″ x 10″ vs 6″ x 3.75″), more pages (192 vs 112), heavier paper, vinyl covers instead of softcover, and extra cancellation space in every region. The Classic fits in a pocket; the Collector’s Edition is meant for a daypack or to keep at home between trips.
Will my cancellation stamps from the Classic work in the Collector’s Edition?
Cancellation stamps are pressed directly into whichever book you bring to the park. They’re not transferable between books. If you switch to the Collector’s Edition, you’ll start fresh in the new book. Many collectors keep their completed Classic editions as finished volumes.
Is the vinyl cover really waterproof?
The cover is weather and tear resistant, not fully waterproof. It’ll handle rain and rough handling in a pack. The interior pages are heavy stock paper but still paper, so keep them out of standing water.
How many parks can I stamp before it’s full?
With 192 pages and extra cancellation space in every region, most collectors won’t fill it for years. When you do run out of room, the Collector’s Expander Pack adds more pages.
Does it include the annual commemorative stamps?
It includes designated pages for annual commemorative stamps through 2029. The stamps themselves are sold separately each year.
Do all BHPFA park stores carry the cancellation stamps?
Yes. You can get your Passport stamped at our stores at Wind Cave National Park, Jewel Cave National Monument, Scotts Bluff National Monument, and Black Hills National Forest locations.
Does buying this support national parks?
Yes. Net proceeds support national parks through both Black Hills Parks & Forests Association and Eastern National.
