What is the CCC patch?
This 2 15/16-inch round embroidered patch carries the official logo of the Civilian Conservation Corps, the New Deal program that ran from 1933 to 1942. It’s made by L.W. Bristol Classics, a family-owned manufacturer in Bristol, Tennessee that has produced custom souvenirs for national and state parks for decades. The patch has a colorful embroidered front and an iron-on backing.
BHPFA sells it at Scotts Bluff National Monument and through the online shop. Proceeds support education, conservation, and visitor services at Scotts Bluff and across BHPFA partner parks and forests.
About the CCC
President Franklin D. Roosevelt proposed the Civilian Conservation Corps to Congress on March 21, 1933. The Emergency Conservation Work Act passed the same day by voice vote. Within weeks, the first camps were operating across the country.
Over its nine-year run, the CCC enrolled three million young men in conservation work: building trails, bridges, fire lookout towers, roads, and park facilities. Workers received food, housing, and $30 a month, most of which was sent home to their families during the Depression. The program was a major force in shaping what the national park and forest system looks like today.
The CCC was formally dissolved on June 30, 1942, when wartime labor needs made the program impractical to continue. The structures they built are still in use at parks and forests across the country, including at Scotts Bluff National Monument.

How to apply an iron-on patch
Preheat your iron to medium-high (cotton or linen setting). Position the patch on the fabric with the embroidered side up. Place a thin cloth over the patch to protect the threads. Press down firmly for 25 to 30 seconds without sliding the iron. Let it cool flat. For best durability, hand-stitch around the border after ironing.
Iron-on adhesive works well on most woven fabrics: cotton, denim, canvas, polyester-cotton blends. It does not bond reliably to waterproof or treated materials (nylon, Gore-Tex, waxed canvas). Sew it on instead for those substrates.
