Description
What it is
This is a vinyl reproduction of the 1938 Devils Tower admission window sticker. From 1918 to 1940 the National Park Service issued small adhesive stickers as proof of paid admission, stuck on car windshields like a later park-pass tag. Twenty-two parks had their own design, the set collectors later nicknamed the “Zoo Stickers.” Ranger Doug Enterprises reproduces the Devils Tower design on modern vinyl.
About the design
The green octagonal sticker reads “Devils Tower National Monument” around the rim with the year 1938 across the bottom and the tower itself rising in the center. Devils Tower was the first U.S. National Monument, designated by Theodore Roosevelt in 1906, and the 1938 sticker is one of the earliest in the admission-sticker series.
About Ranger Doug Enterprises
Ranger Doug Enterprises was founded by former National Park Service ranger Doug Leen in Seattle, Washington. Leen restored the full set of 22 surviving 1918-1940 admission-sticker designs and reproduces them alongside the WPA-era park posters he is known for. With the originals nearly all gone, these reproductions are how most collectors get the artwork.
