Life Beneath the Surface | Wind Cave National Park

The prairie above is only half the story. Beneath it, bats and tiny microorganisms survive in the dark passages of one of the world’s longest caves. Join Ranger Payden to uncover the hidden lives that endure belowground at Wind Cave.

About the Wind Cave evening programs: These free programs are presented by National Park Service rangers at the Elk Mountain Campground amphitheater in Wind Cave National Park. Each program begins at 9:00 pm and lasts about an hour. Programs are free, open to all ages, and no registration is required. Bring a blanket or camp chair and dress for cool prairie evenings. The amphitheater is at the Elk Mountain Campground, off US Highway 385 north of Hot Springs, South Dakota. Programs may be canceled in poor weather.
