Visit Jewel Cave National Monument on October 27 for the fee-free day marking Theodore Roosevelt’s birthday. Cave tour tickets are still required, and availability is limited.
This is a date-based listing, not a promise of continuous tours. Check with the park for the day’s tour schedule and ticket arrangements before traveling. NPS lists this 2026 fee-free day for U.S. citizens and residents; reservation or other service fees may still apply.
Jewel Cave plans Scenic and Discovery tours, including a special lantern-led Scenic Tour at 12:45 p.m. for Bat Week. That tour has 20 first-come, first-served tickets.
Start at the visitor center at 11149 U.S. Highway 16, west of Custer. Call 605-673-8300 for current tour information. Fully enclosed shoes are required on cave tours.
