See Jewel Cave’s Scenic Tour route by lantern light during Bat Week. This special ranger-led tour begins at 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27, during the Theodore Roosevelt birthday fee-free day.
There are 20 tickets, available first come, first served. Check ticket availability at the visitor center; a calendar listing does not reserve a place.
The tour follows the Scenic route, rather than the summer Historic Lantern Tour route. The regular Scenic route covers about half a mile and 734 stairs and is rated moderately strenuous. Wear fully enclosed shoes. Confirm any special requirements with the park.
Meet at Jewel Cave’s visitor center, 11149 U.S. Highway 16, west of Custer. Only the 12:45 p.m. start is confirmed; the special tour’s end time has not been announced. Call 605-673-8300 for details.
