Annual New Year’s Eve Hike at Wind Cave National Park

UPDATED 12/24/25: Due to severe storm damage, this hike location has changed from Rankin Ridge to THE PRAIRIE VISTA TRAIL.
Meet at the Wind Cave National Park Visitor Center at 9 am MT, which is also the trailhead.
Join South Dakota Volunteer Naturalist Paul Schweitzer for a New Year’s Eve nature hike on the Prairie Vista Trail. After, we will toast to a new year with hot cocoa! Bring your own mug, hot chocolate will be provided. The hike is a one-mile loop, with about 150 ft of elevation gain on uneven terrain. Dress for the weather with sturdy hiking boots. All ages welcome!
