Patty joined BHPFA in 2010 in the newly created Operations Manager position. In 2013, she was hired as the Executive Director. Patty brings over 20 years of nonprofit and retail experience to the organization. She and her husband love to explore the Black Hills and all it has to offer with their dog.

Melonie was born and raised in Ontario, Canada, and moved to Rapid City, SD in 2004 where she fell in love with the Black Hills. She enjoys South Dakota to its fullest by hunting, fishing and hiking with her two doodles, Racer and Eddie. In 2021 she became a U.S Citizen! Melonie has 23 successful years of leading retail store operations for non-profit and for-profit organizations alike.

Andrea moved to the Black Hills in 2019 to work for BHPFA. Her background is in outdoor education and she has worked and volunteered all over the U.S. She covers many roles with  BHPFA including organizing women’s and girl’s programs with our non-profit partner SheJumps and serves on the executive committee for the the South Dakota Volunteer Naturalist Program.  In her free time, Andrea loves biking, skiing, and running on public lands!

Jason is a former National Park Service Ranger who worked at our partner Agate Fossil Beds National Monument, as well as Big Thicket National Preserve before joining BHPFA. After serving as BHPFA’s Nebraska Area Manager, he and his family moved to West Virginia for his wife — and fellow Park Ranger — Tera Lynn’s new role at the NPS national level. He continues to demonstrate his passion for the Black Hills and Panhandle Nebraska NPS and USDA FS sites remotely with us.  As DC&DM, he manages our data analytics, ecommerce, marketing, grant applications, and publications.
