Everything in the online park store is ranger-reviewed for accuracy, cultural inclusivity, and to enhance your connection to the park or forest’s educational message. Net proceeds of all BHPFA sales go to “Wonder & Exploration” at our NPS and USFS partners!
Scenic Highways Park Posters are 14″ x 22″ posters, screen printed in three colors.
Jewel Cave
The National Park Service fully managed the operation of Jewel Cave starting in 1940. Two seasonal rangers gave guided tours of the cave for 50 cents per person. In September 1941, a permanent ranger was assigned to the Monument. This allowed for tours from spring into the early fall season. Today, visitors can still go on the Historic Lantern Tour.
Wind Cave
Constructed in 1929, the Beaver Creek Bridge on historic highway 87 was originally built to grant access to Custer State Park. The bridge is unique to South Dakota, being the only arch type of its kind in the state. Designed to appear as if its arches rise naturally from the surrounding rock, this significant accomplishment was made possible by Senator Peter Norbeck who was involved in developing the Black Hills for tourism.
