SUMMARY:Black-footed Ferret 30 Years of Conservation Celebration | NGVC
DESCRIPTION:The National Grasslands Visitor Center\, along with partnering nonprofit organizations and state and federal agencies\, is hosting a celebration of one of North America’s most endangered mammals\, the black-footed ferret\, marking 30 years of conservation. \nOn Friday\, July 10 there will be an Evening Program at Badlands National Park’s Cedar Pass Amphitheater about the black-footed ferret’s conservation story and the recovery effort. The program starts at 9:00 PM. \nOn Saturday\, July 11 starting at 10:00 AM\, a live black-footed ferret ambassador named Hoopla will be at the National Grasslands Visitor Center\, along with activities throughout the day\, presentations\, and cake provided by BHPFA. At 1:00 PM\, Travis Livieri of Prairie Wildlife Research leads a discussion forum\, The history of the black-footed ferret at Conata Basin Badlands: a reflection on the reintroduction\, plague outbreaks\, challenges\, and successes. A black-footed ferret float will be in the Wall Celebration parade starting at 9:00 AM. \nA youth poster contest celebrating 30 years of black-footed ferret conservation is now open.
