SUMMARY:Songbird of the Black Hills: Horsethief Lake
DESCRIPTION:Gather around the campfire at Horsethief Lake\, a small lake under the pines just down the road from Mount Rushmore\, for an evening with the Songbird of the Black Hills. Sally Svenson plays her original songs and the Black Hills stories behind them. Music starts at 7:30 p.m. \nGetting there: Horsethief Lake Campground is on Highway 244 near Mount Rushmore\, in the Hell Canyon Ranger District. \nAbout the Songbird campfire sing-alongs\nThe Songbird of the Black Hills is Sally Svenson\, a local singer-songwriter whose original music grows out of her love for this region. At each campfire sing-along she shares the Black Hills stories behind her songs\, with familiar tunes mixed in so everyone can join. Bring a camp chair or a blanket\, and dress for cool mountain air after sunset. These are free\, all-ages outdoor programs; check the forecast before you head out. \nEach campfire sing-along is sponsored by the Black Hills Parks and Forests Association\, a cooperative partner of the Forest\, with the Black Hills National Forest Recreation Program.
